This Privacy Policy applies to the Smart Job Application Assistant Chrome Extension. This project was developed as an academic thesis for a BSc Computer Science program.

1. Information We Collect

The extension collects and processes the following information to function effectively:

• Profile Data: We collect your structured resume sections, which include your Professional Summary, Work Experience, Education, and Preferences.
• Page Content: The extension performs automatic form scanning to detect text inputs, emails, and textareas on job application pages.
• Application History: The extension auto-saves your applications, including company names, dates, and application statuses.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To analyze job descriptions against your profile.
• To intelligently fill out application forms using Profile-based matching and field-type awareness.
• To generate job-specific PDF resumes formatted with LaTeX.

3. Data Storage & Security

• Local Storage: Basic user preferences may be stored via Chrome Storage Sync.
• Remote Database: Profile information, resume data, and application history are stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on DigitalOcean.
• Data Purpose: This storage is required to provide the "Application Tracking" and "History View" features described in the project overview, and also for possible future feature updates.

4. Third-Party Data Processing

To provide advanced NLP and AI features, the extension communicates via the Fetch API to a remote backend.

• Backend Framework: Data is sent to a custom Flask REST API backend.
• Google Gemini API: The backend integrates with the Google Gemini API to generate contextual answers for form autofilling.
